Friends General Conference
The Friends General Conference is ne of the world's largest umbrella organizations for Quakers. Midlothian Friends Meeting, through Baltimore Yearly Meeting, participates in FGC. FGC holds an annual meeting that is a favorite vacation spot for some Midlothian Friends.
Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL)
Friends Committee on National Legislation is the political voice of American Quakers. Located in Washington, DC, it acts as a Quaker lobby in the public interest. The Friends Committee on Commonwealth Legislation (FCCL) performs a similar function in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
FCNL seeks to bring the concerns, experiences and testimonies of the Religious Society of Friends to bear on policy decisions in the nation's capital.
American Friends Service Committee (AFSC)
American Friends Service Committee Quaker-based organization that is committed to social action consistent with Quaker beliefs. The AFSC, acting in behalf of Quakers, received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1947 for post WWII relief efforts in Germany, the only religious faith-based organization ever to receive the Nobel prize.
